Join us as Rolandas shares his journey, experiences, and insights into what makes working at Detra Solar so special.

Q: Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your background? A: Heyo! My name is Rolandas, and I’m an engineer with almost a decade of experience in the solar market. I’ve worked in many different roles, starting from Junior Design Engineer to Business Development Manager to Head of Engineering.

Q: What is your role at Detra? A: Currently, I am the Lead Project Engineer, and I have been working at Detra Solar for over six years.

Professional Experience

Q: What attracted you to work at Detra? A: The ability to work with many different clients on various projects, the company’s outlook on business culture, and, of course, the experienced and professional colleagues.

Q: Can you describe a typical day in your role? A: Leading projects on a daily basis requires constant communication with the internal engineering team and the client. Teaching younger engineers, gathering data on potential issues, and making steps to avoid them are also significant parts of my day.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your job? A: Problem-solving and teaching others.

Q: What is the most challenging part of your role? A: Trying to find time to deliver projects while ensuring engineers are growing their expertise.

Q: How does your role contribute to the company’s goals and mission? A: As a Lead Project Engineer, it is my responsibility to ensure that we deliver projects on time and in the best possible way. To achieve this, I make sure our engineers develop as quickly as possible, sometimes pointing out even the smallest mistakes because we need to strive for excellence from the very beginning.

Personal Insights

Q: What motivates you to come to work every day? A: There is always something to optimize and improve. I enjoy creating, improving, and implementing processes, and here I get to do that daily. Also, pastries on Fridays are a big help.

Q: How do you stay organized and manage your time effectively? A: Setting boundaries and expectations helps. Using focus time and taking breaks when needed allows me to maintain a positive attitude, reach goals, and avoid burnout.

Q: What skills do you find most useful in your role? A: Nine years in engineering help tremendously, but the best skill is clear and positive communication.

Team and Culture

Q: Can you share a memorable moment you’ve had while working at Detra? A: My first trip to Intersolar was one of the most memorable moments. Meeting the client for the first time is something special. Finally placing a face to the name really helps with communication and creating long-term relationships.

Q: How would you describe the company culture at Detra? A: Work hard, play hard. The company is very goal-oriented but also understands the benefits of celebrating even tiny achievements, minor and major holidays, and just having a beer once in a while.

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work? A: Having a long walk or riding a bike helps to keep a clear mind. Cooking also has a special place in my life.

Q: How do you and your team collaborate on projects? A: Setting up short-term goals, sharing knowledge, and assisting one another makes any project doable.

Future Outlook

Q: What are you most excited about in the coming months for Detra? A: The expansion of the engineering team and bringing new talent into the company.

Q: Are there any upcoming projects you’re particularly looking forward to? A: Since we have a lot of newcomers, we need to ensure our efficiency stays unaffected. We have several ideas we want to implement, and I’m very excited about those.

Q: Where do you see yourself in the next five years? A: Leading projects not only with solar but also with BESS, hydrogen, and wind. Learning about new technologies and new approaches to manage and grow the team.
