Specific accountabilities:

Technical electrical engineering design accountabilities:

  • Assisting and reviewing the overall Design Team in creating the detailed design of electrical solutions from Low Voltage up to High Voltage for Solar Power Stations;
  • Supporting the Team in the design integration of the electrical systems into a range of solar energy projects on our customer’s sites;
  • Preparing new and modifying existing electrical drawings, calculations, and equipment specifications, including LV & MV & HV systems with transformers, cables, switchgear, equipment wiring, and earthing;
  • Ensuring the overall Design Team in creating the bill of materials appropriate for electrical solutions (especially for the MV/HV area);
  • Reviewing power systems studies (i.e. fault level calculations, grading, discrimination, load flow, and short circuit analysis, etc.) when / if necessary;
  • Overseeing the Team to outline suitable electrical connection arrangements for a range of renewable-energy system types and sizes (Solar and Energy Storage).

Management accountabilities:

  • Allocating and managing resources to deliver detailed design and construction drawings to win tenders and deliver projects;
  • Striving for excellence in customer service throughout the project lifecycle and build a customer-centric approach;
  • Leverage expertise within the business through fostering an information-sharing culture that openly and proactively shares best practices.

Regulatory Compliance & standards:

  • Ensuring all electrical engineering and design work compliance with regulatory requirements for solar energy projects.

Technical expertise & knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of the electrical engineering requirements and related challenges associated with electrical systems include power system architecture (transmission and distribution systems); loads, generation and power balance; active, reactive, and apparent power; three-phase LV, MV & HV, voltage control, load flow, generators powered by renewable energy, distributed generation, and islanding, designing protection, cable, transformer, switchgear, earthing systems;
  • Good understanding of the power system studies – fault level calculations, arc flash, discrimination, grading and protection studies, and grid connection interfaces;
  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering discipline is required. Also, a master’s degree in the relevant electrical engineering discipline or an area that demonstrates energy engineering skills is advantageous;
  • To possess a minimum of 15 years of electrical engineering experience that is related to the electrical industry;
  • C1 or C2 English proficiency;
  • Previous experience in Medium and High Voltage is a must.

The Sales function remains the heart of the Detra team; it is essential the applicant has a passion for engaging with customers, helping them on their buying & PV design knowledge journey. The Detra team is cross-functional, giving the Sales Lead the opportunity to work closely with Engineering, Operations, etc. to find the best solution & price for our customers.

The applicant will ensure maximum sales, efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction with the full support of the broader organization. You will be expected to create a culture of excellence & commercial dynamism but given space & support to make a personal mark on the future of this rapidly growing business unit – help us shape the future of our business and our customers’ PV success.

Key responsibilities:

  • Building ongoing relationships with all prospects & customers to make Detra Solar the first port of call for all PV tenders, and design and engineering inquiries.
  • Identifying & winning new business with businesses
  • Owning the customer relationship from lead/prospect through to passing into our delivery team
  • Track your targets and systematically plan your workflow to ensure tight deadlines are met.
  • Identify, support, and develop champions and advocates within the customer environment.

Requirements:

  • A proven sales engineer with the ability to motivate and develop others and is passionate about engaging others in the importance of excellent customer delivery
  • Demonstrable tactical and commercial awareness of the sales function, direct sales channels, and business process knowledge
  • A career record that shows outstanding delivery against targets
  • Confidence and credible with effective networking and partnering
  • A high degree of professionalism, service-orientation, and attention to detail; able to quickly establish trust with customers.
  • Compelling communication style, oral, and written English. Experience in German, French, Spanish, Italian languages would be considered an advantage.
