Nordic Solar opens the biggest solar park in Lithuania
The largest solar energy park in Lithuania officially starts electricity production. The Moletai solar park spans roughly 150 hectares and boasts over 150,000 solar modules and an electrical substation. This 100 MW facility marks Nordic Solar’s first significant investment in Lithuania. Detra Solar provided design and engineering services for the construction of this park. The park will play a key role in progressing towards energy independence and fulfilling the National Strategy for Lithuania’s Energy Independence 2050.
The opening ceremony in Moletai saw participation from Deputy Minister of Energy Daiva Garbaliauskaite, Moletai District Vice Mayor Vaida Sauguniene, various Lithuanian energy representatives, Danish Ambassador to Lithuania Grete Sillasen, and Nordic Solar CEO Nikolaj Holtet Hoff, who together inaugurated the solar park.
Deputy Minister Garbaliauskaite emphasized Lithuania’s ambitious energy objectives, aiming for complete energy independence through increased national electricity generation. She expressed satisfaction that the new solar power plants in Moletai, Svencionys, and Jonava, operated by Nordic Solar, would enhance the country’s solar power capacity and bring renewable energy to more homes.
